If you are really serious about your Job Search activity, then I would highly recommend that you do this Planning to help keep yourself 'on-track'!
• Your "Personal Action Plan" needs to be SMART.
This represents the following;
• Specific; Measureable; Achievable; Realistic; Timed.
So how do you draw up your "Personal Action Plan"?
• Use a sheet of A4 paper and turn it sideways - with longest side at top/bottom. Better still have it Word Processed.
• Split into 4 downwards columns each headed as follows;
• Then simply enter the Tasks you need to set yourself; For Example;
DATE/ ACTION TARGETTED/ HOW WILL THIS BE ACHIEVED/ TARGET DATE
13/4/10 Complete first CV Gather together all materials by 20/4/2010
16/4/10 Prepare first draft of Cover Letter Gather materials totether and Word Process by 20/4/2010
21/4/10 Practice Interview Ask Jim; Prepare information by 24/4/2010
22/4/10 List 100 Network contacts Pull together information by 26/4/2010
Make sure your target dates are balanced by trying to keep them as tight as possible, so you achieve results as quickly as possible, but not so they are impossible time-scales that get you totally stressed.
Where possible link up with someone else who is serious about getting a Job. Act as support to each other and compare notes and try and learn together from the experience.
Discipline is the key- word.
Keep marking off each time your next Target is reached. This will lead you to your ultimate target - GETTING TO A JOB OFFER!
