You Can Fear Me If That Makes You Happy - But Don't Get in My Ring - You Can't Compete

Expert Author Lance Winslow

We have a slight problem in our society, and that problem is political correctness. We seem to be telling kids even at an early age that "everyone is a winner" and that everyone gets a certificate for participating - and yet, we know this is a silly notion. So I have to ask you a question; why an Earth do we do this? Who was the head psychologist at Harvard who was able to get this into the curriculum of every classroom in America, it's just absurd. Life is tough, you have to work hard, and you must never give up. Not everyone can win every time; in our society, there are winners and losers.

We live in a capitalistic society, in businesses, and in school, it's not easy, we need to prepare our next generation to go the distance. Everybody needs to have a good self-esteem and ego to function, to be happy, and remain psychologically sound. But we must not allow anyone to live a lie, the ego and self-esteem which they are able to amass must be earned. The way you earn your self-esteem is by working hard, and seeing those results through achievement, real achievement - not just talk.

It is amazing how many people feel intimidated when they meet someone who is super achieved in our society. And they expect the super achieved people to give them kudos and make them feel good, for if they don't then the underachiever feels disrespected, and therefore, judges the achiever as a lesser. That's absolutely ridiculous. Because the achieved individual will not lie to the underachieved individual, they are somehow not good enough to be worthy of their achievements? How does that work?

In reality the achieved individual who will not give a complement to someone who doesn't deserve it is actually doing that person a favor. Indeed, they are being honest and truthful by not wanting to lie to the underachieved. Certificates, kudos, complements must be earned not simply granted or demanded. Respect must also be earned, you can't have it for free. Our entitlement society needs to stop this nonsense because it is unhealthy and most importantly is unfair. It isn't fair to either the achieved, or the underachieved.

It makes the lazy lazier and the successful less likely to continue their hard work, after all why should they. Why should someone work really hard just so the entitlement crowd can vote politicians into office who will steal their wealth through a tax system. Why should someone work hard to get a certificate or trophy when everyone gets a certificate or trophy anyway? Some people don't understand this concept, and they don't understand what's wrong with socialism or communism. But I do, and if you understand what I'm saying, then you too know what's wrong with communism and socialism, but if you don't, you probably never will.

You can fear me if that makes you happy, you can despise me for my hard work and achievements. But I guarantee you - if you don't have what it takes, you better stay out of my ring because I'm not going to go easy on you, if you can't compete. There's nothing wrong with winning, there never was, it is an American tradition. If you can't handle that, maybe you are living in the wrong country. Think on it.
