If you were playing your Xbox, chances are it gave you some indications of failure before it actually crashed.  This might have been seen through sound interruptions, graphic errors and game freezing.  And now your Xbox is flashing three lights and what does it mean?  It simply means there is a hardware problem, but it might not be too simple to fix!

The first thing you can try, is checking the power supply box.  A red, orange or no light might mean that there is no power getting to the box.  Check the cables and change outlets to see if that helps, if it doesn't you will need to contact Microsoft and have a replacement box sent out to you.

Microsoft has been really busy lately.  If you bought your system within the last three years you are in luck!  That means you are a part of a special extended warranty. 

Microsoft will send your Xbox out for repairs.  The time line for this is about two to six weeks.  If you're out of warranty, you will have to pay a fee, anywhere from 100 to 150.  And Microsoft will either send out your old Xbox or a refurbished one.

The idea of sending your Xbox out, might be frustrating, however, Xbox 360 three red lights is fixable!  And two to six weeks might just fly by....or not!
