If you have found your way to this article then no doubt you have one of the red light problems with your Xbox 360 console. Here you will find out which problem you have and also get some tips to help you fix it.

Firstly, here is a rundown of the possible problems that you may have:

Xbox 360 1 Red Light: the first problem is the Xbox 360 1 red light error and this is also known as the E74 error, it is caused by the HANA chip that deals with the display overheating. You will also get a message on the screen saying to contact Microsoft customer support.

2 Red Lights: if you have two red lights flashing then you have the overheating problem, and you may actually be able to fix it by giving your Xbox a good clean. Also make sure to move it away from any radiators and if you keep it inside a display case it might be an idea to move it out so it is more ventilated.

3 Red Lights: this is the most common problem and it means that the main chips the GPU and the CPU have overheated so much that it is actually cause the motherboard to bend, and also the soldering to snap off. When you receive this error you normally get no warning and while you are playing your games, you will notice a freeze up then when you turn your console back on you are greeted with the three red light error.

4 Red Lights: if you have four red lights then I would not worry too much, as this is normally just the AV cable that is not plugged incorrectly. Check that is plugged in firmly to the console and your television.

Now you have figured out what the red lights mean you really have two different options to fix it.

The first option is obviously to contact customer support and get them to come and pick you up for you. They normally pick up the console quite quickly although the repair time can be a different issue, with most repair taking up to six weeks. There is also no guarantees that it will not happen again.

The second option is to repair it yourself and to do this you need a good Xbox 360 repair guide, and what they really do is show you with video how to stop the heat build up and therefore solving the problem.

Make sure there before you go down this route you test out the customer service and also check for a guarantee and proof that it works.

I hope this article has helped to figure out which problem you have, and hope you find a solution soon!
