Writers and Online Networking to Promote Your Site

Expert Author Rebecca Emrich

Writers have all heard of social networking as a means to showcase the work that they do online and otherwise. The fact is, we think of networking not in terms of online work, but of "real world" work. This is not the case, as the Internet harnesses the power of billions of traffic to billions of websites. The more you network the more your writing is showcased. The more your work is showcased the more traffic your site will have.

The difference is that everything about this networking is online, and since we all publish online and read the others online works, such as a blog or an online articles or websites. There are many places where you can network and build your online brand for your business and for your site. For example by writing your blog and then going to others sites and commenting, you will be promoting your site via a new network, that of the other person's blog. The more you visit that blog the more other traffic sees you and the more likely this will promote your site.

When we write on our blog and the content is good, we network with each other and hopefully others read this blog, and often they come from others blogs due to the comments you make on blogs. Fun to read, and some times this can be a harder thing to manage with time constraints and new technology. The real effort begins when we as writers decide that our writing needs an online network of readers who believe that our work is of value, which in turn can make us money, and when we publish our work, we know that this network will read our work.

Then the question becomes what about site-promotion with the social networking sites such as Facebook or Stumble Upon or Digg or countless others? As a blog writer, this is very simple site-promotion, and by adding a link to your site or to a blog post, you have increased the chances of your site being "found." This does take time but it is worth it.

Again, participation is key, and the more you participate on each social networking sites, there is more traffic which will come to your work. The content is a must in this case, if you want to build upon your success in terms of site-promotion, but the more effort you put into building your online presence and your site, the more success you will see.
