World of Warcraft Insights takes a look at the warrior class. Warriors can be a real pain or really fun to play. The major pain of a warrior is the down time you see, at least at the start. This is due to the lack of healing the warrior has in his arsenal. Once you get past that and learn the class and how you want to play it this class can be really fun.
Now World of Warcraft warriors are different from many other warriors many are use to playing where most of the abilities deal with beefed up damage. In World of Warcraft warriors use a lot of utility abilities to cripple their opponent as well as multiple target damaging abilities.
Warriors base their attacks off of rage which is generated mostly by hitting the mob but can also be achieved via getting hit or a few abilities such as blood rage. Understanding how best to gain and maintain rage is the toughest aspect of the warrior.
Warriors really shine when surrounded by many mobs to help with rage gain as well as shooting up the dps chart in berserker stance with whirlwind and cleave which damages two to all mobs in melee vicinity. Coupled with berserker rage and either the bloodthirst ability or a healer this scenario allows massive rage gain which in turn allows massive damage dealing.
Choosing one's build
Arms - considered the best build for pvp though fury isn't too far behind this build. This build worries about massive crits and high hitting damage to generate a lot of rage and maintain it. Though very single target oriented it can be very devastating to another player that comes across someone with this build that knows how to play it.
Fury - dps combined with survivability can't be all that bad. That is just what this build is. Think a plate wearing rouge. Massive damage with a bit of healing from the bloodthirst ability and if you have a high parry and dodge factor a plate wearing rouge is just what you are. This build is best for raid dps as well as leveling.
Protection - here's your tanking build. Many threat increasing talents along with damage mitigation. Not really useful outside groups and raids though I have seen it in pvp yet I'm not sure how well that worked out.
