Workshop and Seminar Locations - Goldilocks And The Three Venues

Expert Author Daphne J. Bousquet

Just like the three bears, venues for seminars and workshops come in all sizes. When you are planning the location for your seminar, it is important to have the right size venue for your workshop, not too big, not too small, but just right. You want to have a venue that is comfortable but not too big because the size of the room has to match the size of your workshop and the size of your audience. If you choose the wrong venue for your audience, there will be a disconnect. You end up alienating your audience and losing your credibility.

For instance, if you have a large room for a small crowd, it will feel overwhelming and it just doesn't convey a sense of success. Even if you planned for only 30 people, if the room fits 100 people, it looks like your event is a flop.

On the other hand, if you have a small room but you have too many people, the large crowd will be uncomfortable. They'll start feeling like sardines because they're just crammed in there. If there are too many people in the room, it's going to be packed; the room is going to be too hot and people will be very uncomfortable. Chances are that people will not come back after lunch. When back of the room sales are a part of your workshop strategy (as it should), that is a problem. If you lose people then they will not be able to buy from you when it is time for you to make your offer.

But when Goldilocks finds the right venue, there is a synergy between her and the audience. They feel comfortable and are receptive to what she has to say. So be like Goldilocks and make sure your venue is not too big and not too small, but just right. If you need help finding the right venue, contact me. It is a service I provide and it may be free to you if you need a 30 room nights or more.
