Some individuals, even through their own admission, have short tempers, are known as hot-headed, or are otherwise prone to an often sudden rush of anger that they are unable to appropriately control. For these types of people, anger management, whether through psychotherapy or with the help of self help management techniques, can significantly improve the quality of their lives and relationships. There are also some new forms of anger therapy that will help these people return to living productive lives if their anger has gotten them in trouble with the law.
Working together as a team is, broadly speaking, more effective at combating all of the problems life can throw at you. For example, if you have a big project that needs to be completed for work or school, splitting up the work will not only save time by lessening each person's individual work load, but it will also provide extra help and ideas for all of the members within the group itself. It is this kind of mentality that defines anger management group counseling.
An anger control class may appear a bit different depending on the philosophies of the individual that is in charge of teaching and the audience towards which the class is geared. Some sessions might be general classes that can teach you how to control emotions. This could be the case with some of the online anger management classes that offer people generalized tips and strategies.
There are several techniques that can be used during anger therapy. Some popular ones are things like deep relaxation exercises, using humor, the repetition of calming words, leaving the area of conflict, meditation, and cognitive therapy for anger.
