Without Writers There is No Internet - Can You Deny This?

Expert Author Ramaswamy Sundaram

I can hear you murmur - "Is this fellow crazy? What an audacious statement he makes? The modern technology revolution - Internet - is the brainchild of Scientists. This man should definitely be referred to a psychiatrist." Wait...friends...I repeat the statement - if there are no Writers, there is nothing called "Internet" and its world-wide reach.

Let me explain. What is Internet? It is a combination of World Wide Websites linked together and floating on the sky, called High Street. These websites offer products; services and information to visitors. Now how do you access a website? By typing some "words"- that is the URL of the site you want on your search bar. Not some symbols or codes, but only "words".

The very first activity to access the website begins with some Words - telling you the identity of that site - and these words in TEXT ought to have been written by a Writer. Agreed? Now you have landed on a website - you see beautiful graphics - flowers, designs, animations and what not. Also there are colorful flashes twinkling on all sides - but no TEXT.

If so, can you make out anything of what that website is for? Inevitably, you should see that web content in words of text. Again, this web content in words (to convey what is the use of that site to you), should have been written by a Writer. And that web content should grab your attention, within macro seconds, and make you read to the end of that page. Or else you will fly. That website is of no use to you.

It follows that only a Writer of Text - a good one at that - plays a vital role in projecting that website to you. Without the Writer - there is no use by that site, the world-wide-web and hence there is no technology called Internet; websites; and their use to the world. Now think of that and you will agree - I am not crazy.

The point is Writers are the backbone of Internet Marketing Industry (but not yet getting the due importance or recognition they squarely deserve). Statistics blare - every day more than 3 million people, from every nook and corner of our globe, visit the Internet world. The commercial business generated online, has already crossed the trillions mark in quantum of amount. Has the writers - the originators of it all - got their due share?

The growth of Internet business has been phenomenal over the years. More and more people are resorting to online purchase of commodities, unlike the olden days. The reason is simple - they can buy from their home, sitting before the computer in their casual attire. No hassles, no commuting and the products they wish to buy, line up on their computer screen. They get full descriptions of each product, in and out, courtesy - Writers. The job potential existing and oncoming for Writers is immense.

That said, there is a poor segment among online writers called "Ghost Writers". I can dare say about 60 percent of articles, essays, web content and what not, you are viewing online are written by these Ghost Writers, from whom they are bought for peanuts and get published on somebody else's name. Yet they are a mute class of people and cannot complain as they do not possess "exclusive rights" to claim them as their brain-child, having sold them for a "price".

World-renowned sites allowing submission of articles are very strict in checking this "exclusive rights" stipulation and yet they cannot detect whether a piece is written by the one who submits them as their own, having bought it from the above class of writers or not.

So writers - Ghost or Original - make the Internet living and sustain to live forever.
