I can almost smell it. Call me crazy but the foam on a perfectly poured draft has its own aroma. Hang on I'm getting an impression of a beautiful pile of snowflakes, all with their unique signature, floating softly to the top of my golden elixir and producing a faint aroma of what I like to call "drink me". Winter is in full bloom in the northern stretches, football is heading for playoff time, and indoor beer drinking is just reaching its peak. Sports and Holidays, a brilliant combination crying out for celebration and a little libation, if it didn't taste so good they wouldn't call it temptation. How do you like that - a couple of beers and I can rap - who knew. Move over Marshall there's a new Sheriff in town.....it really is working.
Anyway, back to the main topic and that smell I was talking about ( yeah you smart guys are thinking about my rapping). Whatever flavor hits your hot spot...light or dark... low carb high carb... with flavor or without - they probably produce it and pack it in a keg. The greatest contraption ever made was a recent discovery of mine - the kegerator. It's compact, usually mobile, comes in a variety of sizes and offers up well cooled brew in a convenient pouring station.
These little metal boxes of beer are a great alternative to just having a keg or supplying your party through the many vessels used for holding beer in cans or bottles. I'm talking about the coolers, round tubs, tanks, chests or whatever your imagination may create. You have to purchase the cans or bottles, make sure the ice is adequate to keep the beer ice cold and then find a way to dispose of the bottles and cans after the crowd has left. I've done it many times - pain in the rear.
All problems solved with any of the available brands - Great Northern Black, The Nostalgia KRS - 2100, Sanyo BC 1206 or the Haier Brand. They all have similar features but take a look at them closely before spending the cash. There are also some smaller dispensers like Krups that don't hold as much but offer some unique functions.
Check them all out at The Beer Brain and make your own decision. It has a comparison guide for many of the brands and helps ask many of the questions. Whatever you decide - Have a great New Year!
