Wiring the electrical system of your house or office? Before you head off to the junction board to get your hands full of wires and connectors, get a load of these safety tips first:

1. If it's On, Then Shut it Off!

First things first. Shut the power supply of whatever it is you'll be working on. Unplug it. You won't run the risk of being electrocuted if there's no electricity to begin with. So, make sure everything's off and stays off.

2. The Gear

Whenever you're working with anything electrical, it would be good to wear rubber boots and rubber gloves. Elementary school science taught us that rubber is a bad conduit of electricity. So, put those wellingtons on!

3. Aluminum and Water

Elementary science class also taught us that aluminum and water are great conduits of electricity. So, stay clear away from them while you work! So keep those aluminum ladders and pails in the storage room. Make sure your hands are dry. And don't drink water or any other liquid within the premises of your work space!

4. Focus

Finally, focus. Don't rush it. Take your time and make sure you devote your full attention to what you're doing. Accidents happen when we're in too much of a hurry. So slow down and keep safe.

With these four safety measures, you won't have to worry about getting an electrical shock while installing wiring systems. Just remember that in everything you do, safety must always be first priority!
