Do you have the felling that your spouse has been cheating on you? Infidelity can be very damaging to any relationship. It does not matter if your marriage was a happy marriage or a rocky one. A cheating spouse only identifies that there is a big weakness in your marriage and it needs to be identified and dealt with, if there is any chance for the marriage to survive.

The first thing that needs to happen is to talk with each other and make sure that the both of you have the same understanding to what infidelity is. Where one person may think it is the conjugal act of sex, another person may think that it can also be the act of kissing another person. Hopefully, this was discussed prior to the marriage to make sure that you both had the same values. But if not, there is no better time than now.

The second thing that needs to be confronted is the why question. "Why has your spouse gone outside the marriage to get there needs from another party?" Avoid the finger pointing at this stage. You may be hurting, and you should be. But there has got to be a reason or a set of events that has happened for the infidelity to enter your marriage. You need to identify why your spouse needed something from someone else.

The third stage to needs to occur is forgiveness. This may be to most difficult part of this process, but it is the most important. Your marriage can not start healing until all parties have been forgiven. You need to forgive your spouse for his actions, and your spouse needs to forgive you for not meeting his needs. Once this has happened then both of you can then work to make sure that both party's needs are meet to head off any more bouts of infidelity.

Remember that you vowed to stick with your spouse through the think and thin. It may seem like the easiest thing to do is to cut and run away from both of your problems. But strong marriages are build from the ashes of the tough times. The both of you may look back on this one day and see that this is when you both really fell in love, and when your marriage actually started.
