Wicked, named the Best Musical of the Decade by Entertainment Weekly is a show and then some!
It has everything you could possibly want, music, dancing, suspense, action and a fantastic storyline.
If you haven't heard anything about it, Wicked is the previously untold story of the Witches from the Wizard of Oz. Find out how two girls that meet up in the land of Oz, Elphaba and Galinda, become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
Follow them as their friendship struggles because of their opposing personalities...there's even a love triangle! Politics become involved as they find out about the corrupt government running Oz culminating in Elphaba's public fall from grace and turning once and for all to 'the dark side'.
The show has been running since the middle of 2003 and has seen worldwide success. It's broken box-office records, and has been nominated for so many awards they are too numerous to mention individually, winning awards including the Best Actress, Best Scenic Design and Best Costume.
One word of caution, although this is an absolutely fantatic show, and one that you definitely shouldn't miss....it's not for small children due to some of the frightening content. Its recommended viewing for children 8 and above...children under 4 will not be admitted into the auditorium. Adults will love it! Running time for the show is about 2 and a half hours, so if you are taking children, make sure they are comfortable sitting still for this amount of time (though that shouldn't be difficult...the show is spellbinding!)
All that is left for me to say is "It'll get you, my pretty!!!"
