Why a Lack of Flash on the iPad Will Harm Apple's Sales

Expert Author Clair B Cunnings

Apple's addition to the tablet computing world, the iPad, is coming out. The device has many useful abilities, but it lacks Flash support. So, if Apple has already promised Flash support for their iPhones, why is it that their tablet device still does not? This presents a real issue for Apple, as even inexpensive, much older netbooks from their competitors can support websites that use Flash. Flash is the most common plugin on the entire internet, so without it, Apple cannot provide a solid browsing experience. Purchasing the iPad is a difficult sell, as far less expensive products can support Flash easily.

As someone who uses the internet, you will be unable to access a large portion of your favorite websites. While Apple could have revolutionized how we use the Internet, this is an unfortunate turn of events. Many websites enable you to watch their media online using a Flash interface. TV networks also often run their programming on the internet. The iPad would be an excellent device to just sit down and use these websites anywhere.

Games that run on Flash would also be an excellent idea. These games number in the tens of thousands, and are usually operated by using the mouse. Instead, the iPad could have allowed you to use the touchscreen. The obvious usefulness of many of the web's Flash applications will also be inaccessible. The iPad looks like it will be a very good product and stands to make waves when it comes to eBooks, but it fails to live up to what even the most basic netbook is capable of.

I have been a big Apple fan most of my adult life but in the past 2 years Apple have taken it to a whole new level and I personally look forward to whats in store in the coming years.
