Why Your Website Needs an RSS Feed to Promote it to the World

Expert Author Ian D Spencer

The nice thing about an RSS feed is that the user must choose to have them displaying on their PC, or their "RSS Reader", which means they only subscribe to the feeds that they want to read, eliminating all of the general spam information that currently populates the Internet.

The user will use an RSS Feed Reader, which for example might be Google Reader, where the user will put all of their favourite RSS feeds from various different websites, and the reader will the display them as the title of the blog post and the link directly too it, sometimes also featuring a description. This means that after you have added a few feeds to your reader, you will be able to see all of the latest information from all of the sites without having to individually visiting each of them, saving you time and effort when it comes to filtering through lots of information, most of which will usually be unnecessary.

Giving your visitors the chance to subscribe to your latest news works on many levels, but the main one is that you are getting your information in front of them without the user even having to come to your website. Before, you would have written a new blog or produced and new product but have had to email your database to tell them to come back and have a look. But with an RSS reader, as soon as the item is released it will appear on their reader straight away, meaning you have full access to your audience at all times.

The people that take the time to subscribe to your feeds are often the best customers, as they want to know about what you do and they want to see when you release more information. This kind of customer has a distinct interest in your business, and these are the ones that will bring you the money, as they are pretty much already showing a big interest in what they do.

If you can write informative, quality, concise and correct information, having an RSS feed option on your website is a must. There is no real other method that can instantly get your latest message, news or product in front of so many qualified customers, so it really is worth investing some time in getting something like moving, as the sooner you do it, the sooner you will start getting subscribers.
