Are you struggling away at work or in your personal life trying to make a big success of it? Is your work or life drudgery that you are mucking though to try to get to the point where you feel successful? If it is that way for you now there is not a whole lot of chance you will find success. Success is in your mind and attitude and in doing what it is that you truly love and do well. That does not mean that there is not struggle at times but it does mean that most of the time we are happy and even invigorated doing it. If that is not the case for you read on.
First lets talk about your mindset and attitude. When it is positive you see the good things that are taking place and they help to spur you on. You can take enjoyment from what you are doing and you interacting with other people in a more positive manner. It makes life easier, not a struggle. Your self-talk and your language with others is much happier and more upbeat and that makes it easier for you and everyone around you to be happier. It makes what you are doing more enjoyable. So work on your mindset and your self-talk. Catch the negative thoughts and words and change them to the positive.
Now let's talk about what you are actually doing. Too be successful you need to be doing something you love to do and do well. That does not mean there will be some parts you don't like so much or don't do so well but the majority of what you are doing will be exhilarating and joyful. How do you figure out what that is? Take a clue from your past. Look at those instances where you were doing something you really enjoyed doing and you were doing it well. I call those achievements. Be sure to gather several of them over a period of time. Write them out and then look for trends and themes regarding what you were doing, how you were doing it, what the circumstances were, what you worked with and how you were relating with people. This will give you a very good idea of what you need to be doing now that will approximate those themes and trends. What you want to do is to duplicate them to the extent possible in what you are currently doing. The reason is that those achievements were examples of when you were in flow - a state when you were at your best doing something you really liked doing. That is when we are truly successful. That is when we are using our gifts and talents and that is what you want to do to ensure success in your life.
