Between all of the professions available at World of Warcraft, there are a few that you should not take (this is, if your main objective is to earn big amounts of wow gold).
Mainly, tailoring and alchemy are quite expensive, and I mean very expensive, professions.
For tailoring, in order to level up your skills, you are going to need even herbs and bars!! And some materials are quite hard to find. In fact, there are some materials that I don´t see even at the auction house, and I find myself asking for help of friends in order to get those items.
Tailoring depends on herbalism, mining and even enchanting in order to level up.
For example, in order to make the 20 slots bag you will need 12 infinite dusts for each bag. These dusts only appear when you disenchant green items. So, you will need to go to lots of dungeons with your friends, and ask them to let you disenchant every green item you find, in order to collect enough just for one bag!!
In my case, one lucky run at the Nexus dungeon gave me 36 infinite dusts... enough for only 3 bags.
Even if you bought the materials at the auction house, made bags and then list them at the auction house, it would not be worth the effort.
I find, with some luck, infinite dust at ten gold each. So, just to make one bag, I drop 120 gold. Then, I need the cloths, 60 frost cloth. Luckily, I have had cost of 150 gold in order to make just one bag. And those bags, in my server, are selling for about 180 gold.
That means 30 gold of profit.
Is it worth all of this effort just for a profit of 30 gold?
And do not forget, the materials at the auction house can run out very fast. In occasions I have been waiting days for infinite dust to appear at the auction house.
So, tailoring is hard to level up, and won´t be so profitable as to make the effort worth it.
My advice is, if your aim is to earn lots of WoW gold, that you take as main professions mining and skinning.
Mining ores and skinning mobs are both free. You get there, you collect the ore, or kill the mob and skin it, and you keep your stuff to sell it at the auction house. There is absolutely no cost.
All the gold you make through selling your stuff will be pure profit, there are no costs.
And I am talking about big money to be made there. In example, for my server, I made 1000 gold in just one day by selling the ores I collected in that single day. No joke. I mined saronite ores and titanium ores. In only selling 16 titanium ores I made in that day more than 1000 gold. And it took me just as much as two hours.
And I have a friend that has sold 20 rugged leather for more than 100 gold. It is quite easy to find if you know which mobs you must skin.
