Why You Should Buy a Wine Refrigerator

Millions of Americans enjoy wine as an alcoholic spirit. However, wine drinking in this country is relatively new compared to many European nations. Many drinkers are not aware that there is an optimum temperature for wine to be both stored and served at.

In old Europe, wealthy landowners would store their collections of wine in underground wine cellars. Unfortunately, this is not affordable to the typical American. But modern technology has provided an alternative: the wine refrigerator or cooler. Basically it acts like a mini refrigerator. They are cheap - most only cost a couple hundred dollars. And electricity consumption is minimal compared to other household appliances. This is a definite must have if you find yourself drinking several glasses of wine per week. It will greatly increase your enjoyment of the spirit. Plus it will signal to your friends and acquaintances that you are serious about your wine hobby.

There are some things you need to know though. Many people get ahead of themselves and by a cooler too large. This is a problem for several reasons. For one, they can take up a lot of room. Second, some of the larger models are expensive. Third, in general the larger the model the more energy it consumes. This is bad for the environment and bad for your wallet. Keep track of how many wine bottles you typically have open. Be sure your wine drinking is a long term habit rather than merely a fad.

You can find a wine refrigerator at most stores that sell appliances. Be sure to take a measurement of how much space you have. You don't want to buy one only to learn that it is too big for the room when you bring it home.
