The talk about addiction never seems to cover being addicted to the chocolate which is one of the most affordable and socially acceptable items on earth. Whenever one thinks of the word addiction, people start imagining hard chemical stuff and they cannot see a picture of a person who is so dependent on chocolates that they actually need help and support. Here are three tips on how to get a chocolate addict on a road to kicking off addiction for good.

Begin by trying to understand what is really going on in your life at the moment without beating about the bush. All things in life have a cause and your chocolate addiction is exactly the same.

So start by admitting that there is an issue here, note this particular time in your diary and start on a path of self realization and development. You can become the person you want to be. Free of any dependencies, even though chocolate does not seem like anything to be ashamed of.

Look back and find out how you reached the level you are in now. It is called self reflection. Try to find out what really led to this kind of over-dependence on chocolate; meaning there must have been something that made you start soothing yourself with eating chocolate most of the time.

The reason could lie in the area of stressful times, boredom, loneliness or even heartbreak perhaps. Once you have identified which one of these or if it was something else altogether, just record it in your diary.

Well, in some cases it might not even have been one but a series of reasons. Whatever reasons they were, it will help to just jot them down and look at them again; see if you won't start to feel better already.

It is now time to keep a check on these feelings. Record the feelings which you often experienced before, whenever you felt the craving for chocolate, in order to know how to deal with it. Set a time limit in which to deal with it. You would begin to see a structure or pattern on which this habit is built. The next thing is just to set the steps to check the situation.

You might have to go over this for a whole month or so, for you to really determine the actual issues. So keep recording all your feelings, whether positive, negative or neutral.
