Running is a terrific sport and can provide many benefits for anyone wishing to take part. It is relatively easy to get started and some of the benefits can be felt very soon after starting. The basic equipment needed is not expensive and there are no ongoing requirements to spend lots of money to maintain your involvement in it. It does not need large amounts of time spent on it, and a lot of pleasure can be found in training a few times a week and completing a race every few weeks.

It does not need any special venue to attend to train, you can train almost anywhere and many different places can be visited to take part in competitive races. It is a great aerobic activity, which is good for the cardiovascular system and your general health. Regular running will also help you build up muscle strength, which in turn can mean that you will have more energy and be able to cope with life more easily. Running can also be an effective way to handle stress and things that once seemed a chore can be taken in your stride. It can also reduce the risk of illnesses such as high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes and arthritis.

Another benefit for the runner is the social element. You can meet and run with a variety of people. Running regularly with folks that share the same goals is great and can help a great deal in encouraging you, especially when you meet some hurdles in your ongoing running experience. Joining a local running club is a great way to meet like-minded people.

Often after a run you can experience what is known as runners high, this is a feeling of well being and you can really feel on top of the world. A great sense of accomplishment can be gained by the person who is running regularly.
