Why Letting Go is So Powerful

Losing someone is a very painful experience. We see that person everywhere we go and everything reminds us of them. It doesn't matter if we just go to the store, there will be something there that makes us think of them, such as their favorite food. If you're reading this, chances are you are having a hard time recovering from losing someone close.

I've lost a few friends and family members myself. You would expect that overtime, it would get easier, but it doesn't. Each situation is unique and depending on how close you are to that person might have something to do with how you grieve. What you go through with one death might not be what you experience. There is one thing that you must remember with all of them and it is something that has helped me.

First you must learn how to cry and release your emotions. Holding in your feelings won't help you get over someones death. The more you hold them in and don't deal with it, the more angry you might get and that leads to depression. You can release your feelings by talking with a therapist, friends or even writing about it by blogging and poetry. After you have released your feelings, you must learn how to let go of them. This can take years for someone to discover and as a result, they could get sick because of all the feelings buried in them.

It might not be easy to let go but you will feel renewed and you can go on with your life. The benefits of letting go are really amazing. You can talk with others about your experience and help them overcome their grief but when you are hanging on to it, you can't help others. The great thing about sharing your experience with others is you start to realize that you are not alone in this area and it makes you stronger, therefore it helps with the letting go experience. The reason why you are able to talk with others is because once you let go, you will feel free and you won't feel angry or depressed like you might have been feeling before. Death is never easy so just remember that when you are able to help someone you could be healing them of depression and that's always a wonderful feeling.
