Why Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr Matter?

Who in this world do not know The Beatles- unless you are living under the rock for the past 50 years. Why people are still electrified by them that whenever you ask someone who is their all-time favorite band, the constant answer is The Beatles? What is it in them that made them so relevant not just in the music history but in the entire planet when in fact they are just 4 regular guys from England? Why do we need to listen to their songs when they sound so much alike from the music of today? What makes Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr so special that they deserved to be put in a pedestal unlike any other human being?

First, this band creates music like it was based from your day by day experience; it's like a memoir except that it is arranged in beautiful melodies. You can relate to every words that comes out from their mouth feeling that they are recounting your story from your first break up to the feeling of being too high on controlled substance. Whenever you hear their sound, you have that certain feeling in you that you've heard that story from someone, from a friend or colleague perhaps, but it is in a song that you just can get out from your head.

Second, they are not just some pretty boys from Liverpool with bewitching accents, they are music gods. They are the real deal. They do not make music just to be some rock stars on stage with inflated egos, to bed as many groupies as possible or simply because they know it will sell millions and would go platinum. They make music that makes sense, they write lyrics based on things that they believe whether they sound vain or conceited; they just simply don't care.

Third, they dare to make music where any artist has never gone before. Whether they admit it or not, almost all the solo performers and bands in the present are more or less influenced by the Fab Four.

Fourth, their music is bossy and cocky with a touch of magic, excitement and tongue-in-cheek manner that is too way addicting enough to make someone high. Just listen to "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and you'll know what I'm saying.

Fifth, they make the sweetest love songs that anyone could possibly produced. "I Will" was written by Paul McCartney after his late wife Linda Eastman while "Something" is for the 60's muse Pattie Boyd and soon to be wife of George Harrison. How many girls can say that a Beatle wrote a song after them?

Sixth, the trashing madness of Helter Skelter made a tremendous influence on the transition of bands to heavy metal and even to a mass murderer Charles Manson.

Seventh, they taught us to become rebel in some way but still feel good about ourselves afterward knowing we made a stand about something. They don't do sugar-coating "everything is perfect" type of things on their lyrics just to make it more appealing to the public which makes them more relatable and more human.

Eighth, they are not simply artist who writes songs about nothing but they contributed tremendously to anti-war movements through the way they perfectly know, music. "Imagine" was used as an anthem all over the world and was recognized as one of the top 100 most performed songs of the 20th century and ranked 3rd on the Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. As what former president Jimmy Carter said: " In many countries around the world- my wife and I have visited about 125 countries - you hear John Lennon's song Imagine used almost equally with national anthems."

How influential they are- need I say more?

It is not just about the musical experience, but the ride that they've brought us in.
