Why Buy Annuities
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Annuities can be a very good way of saving money and securing post retirement benefits. Annuity investments can be made irrespective of the income level of the investors. They provide an easy way to earn additional money as well as assure the future of the investors.

Most of the other post retirement programs and employer sponsored benefits are subject to limitations of time and contribution levels. However, buying an annuity on the other hand, helps the investors in enjoying tax-free contracts and flexibility of choosing the investment amount. The company then pays a certain percentage of their income to the investor, which is specified in the contract.

Annuities can be of different types according to their payout options and durations. This payment period can again be postponed by the investor and can be availed of at the time of need. This allows flexibility to use the money when required the most. Investors can defer the income tax payments until the annuity payment starts on the stipulated date as mentioned in the agreement. Joint annuities cover the beneficiary even after the death of one of the named persons in the agreement, providing financial and emotional support to the survivors.

It is crucial to choose the right plan and the right time to invest in annuity products. A miscalculation may lead to unnecessary penalty fees. The percentage earned from the investment is taxed according to regular income tax rates and might cause income loss, in case the investor decides to surrender the contract or withdraw the invested money. Once the investor?s payment amount is decided and mentioned in the contract, it cannot be changed. Annuity investments may also incur out-of-pocket costs sometimes. Therefore, it is highly recommended to shop and search for the annuity schemes available in the market, before investing money.
