Why Are Fossil Fuels Still So Heavily Used?

Expert Author Ned Hall

Renewable energy may be hot topic these days but fossil fuels are still dominant sources of energy across the globe. We know that fossil fuels are bad for our environment, and that there is a great possibility that in the next 100 years world will run out of oil, coal, and natural gas but despite this knowledge we continue to heavy depend on fossil fuels to satisfy our energy demand? Why?

Some will say it is because renewable energy is still developing, and every development takes some time. But why do not speed up things a bit, especially since we know that fossil fuels use does great damage to our environment, and especially serious is the climate change issue that threatens with catastrophe in years to come?

Powerful coal, oil, and natural gas lobbies may be one of the reasons why we neglect renewables and continue with coal, oil, and natural gas. These powerful lobbies control industry, and controlling industry means also controlling the politics. If that wasn't the case then the new climate deal would have happen at least a decade ago.

Yes I agree that world needs more and more energy, and that our industry is based on excessive use of fossil fuels but we must not think only about our economies and industries but also about our planet's health that by the current looks of it looks to be in the great jeopardy.

Renewable energy seems like a very logical solution to save our planet so why not give it a shot?
