Wholesale Roses - Tips For Long Lasting Roses

Wholesale roses come in many colors making them ideal for centerpieces at large functions. Think of something like an auction fundraiser where you need to mark various tables with different colors. A small bouquet of delicate wholesale roses on each table is an affordable way to bring a touch of class to your fundraiser and enchant your bidders.

Many people shy away from using wholesale roses at their entertainment events because of their tendency to fade early, so here are some tips for keeping flowers at their peak for as long as possible:

When you receive your shipment of wholesale roses, carefully unpackage them and cut an inch off each stem. Cutting at a diagonal angle will help to expose more surface area on the bottom of the stem for roses to soak up more water and rehydrate. Remove the lower leaves. When leaves sit in water they create bacteria and shorten the life of your flowers, so removing the lower leaves reduces bacteria in the water and lengthens the life of your flowers.

Use a clean vase filled with fresh, warm water and a packet of flower food. If you are making several small arrangements with two or three wholesale roses in each arrangement, mix up a larger container with the flower food to ensure you get the right balance of water to flower food (follow the directions on your food packet for how much water you need) and then pour the mixture into smaller containers.

Plan to receive your flowers a day in advance and set them out right away. If it is not possible to make the bouquets on the day you receive the wholesale roses, prepare them as described above and set them in larger vases until it is time to make the arrangements. When handled carefully they will last several days and look beautiful on your event tables when guests arrive. On the day of your event, examine each bouquet and gently pull off any wilted petals to ensure your arrangements look their best.

Avoiding Wilted Wholesale Roses

Heat, drafts and direct sunlight might cause wholesale roses to wilt prematurely. As much as possible, place roses away from ventilation and hot air systems, and keep them away from windows where they will catch strong sunlight. If your event is outdoors, keep the roses inside until the last minute. It is sometimes possible to revive a wilted rose by removing it from the arrangement and placing it in a warm water bath. Trim the stem about an inch, place it carefully in the water and let it soak for a day or two. When returning it to the vase, use a clean vase filled with fresh, warm water and a fresh packet of flower food.

Wholesale Roses Make Great Party Favors

At special events the roses only need to last as long as the event, so instead of throwing them away, hand them out to your guests as special party favors and let guests enjoy their beauty for a few more days.
