MLM prospect
How do you know if the person you're talking to is a valid MLM prospect for your business?
If you're like me, this is a question you've got to answer because I hate wasting time more than just about anything. I'd much rather have a prospect call me a scammer and slam the phone in my ear than try to engage me in idle chatter.
Well, the first quality I look for in an MLM prospect is likeability. Is this somebody I'd feel comfortable calling up and talking with as a friend? Do I enjoy talking to this person? If I do, chances are others will, too.
Does this potential MLM prospect have an openness? Are they unassuming and inquisitive, or narrow-minded and suspicious?
Another trait I look for is intellect. I understand that MLM isn't rocket science and you certainly don't need a degree to be massively successful, but a certain level of sophistication is needed. Does the person I'm speaking with sound sharp? Do I have to keep repeating myself? Does it feel like they're grasping what I'm telling them?
Something else I look for in an MLM prospect is need. Does this person even need what I'm offering them? If not, why would I waste my time? Would you try to sell a steak to a vegetarian?
Need is something that manifests in different ways for different people. For example, March of 2005 was one of the worst months in my life. I was borderline homeless, broke, no job, and I was cold. I have an intense need not to ever feel that way again.
Some people really dread getting up on Monday morning. Others are terrified of losing their job. This is especially true in an economy where some estimate the true unemployment is well above 25%.
Others can't stand their jobs, and are willing to do anything to break their chains of slavery. An MLM prospect with this trait is especially valuable.
Regardless of what many people will say, nobody really wants to work long hours away from their family and friends. Nobody likes being told what time to get up in the morning, what to do all day, and whether or not they can attend their sister's wedding.
This is slavery. You're looking for an MLM prospect who understands this, and who knows that there has to be a better way to live life.
Yes, it's possible to vacation when you want to, for as long as you want, and with whomever you want. To believe otherwise is to cave in to the notion that it's OK to be subservient to others.
How do you know if the MLM prospect you're talking to has these traits? Well, they will usually let you know pretty quickly. If you ask them questions like, "Do you like what you do?", "What do you not like about it?", and "What would you rather be doing?", you're likely to find what you're looking for.
On the other hand, what if they enjoy what they do and love their life? Well, if something's not broke, don't try to fix it. Am I saying that the ideal MLM prospect is broken? Well, a part of them is lacking.
And that is something you can fix.
