We all have long-term friends, and it is sad that we can only count our true friends on one hand. Those real friends that will drop whatever they are doing and come to our aid in the midst of a crisis. Generally we can only count on one hand our family members who might do the same. It takes a long time to develop friends and those kinds of relationships, but they do exist. So then, who are all your other friends that we call friends; but they aren't that level of friend?
After all, we all have acquaintances, friends, close friends, and even temporary friends. "Temporary Friends" what's that, you ask? I've never heard of such a thing, how can you classify someone as a temporary friend? A temporary friend might be someone who is an acquaintance, and you decide to expand that friendship slightly and perhaps take a business relationship to a social level. Or perhaps, you are traveling in some faraway city and you meet someone and decide to go on an excursion with them.
This does not mean that your temporary friends may not become permanent friends, or even long-term friends that you can add to your best friend list. These folks might actually become your best friends in the future. But a temporary friend is a friend in transition, it is a trial friendship, one that may stand the test of time, or perhaps not. Nevertheless, it serves a purpose for both parties temporarily, as humans need companionship, they are social animals.
It's okay to have temporary friends. It's okay to invite people into your life for a short period of time, without ever expecting anything to ever become of it. That's okay, so go out into the world and make friends, lots of friends, and temporary friends too, it's perfectly okay. Please consider all this.
