Did you know the average American consumes about 124 pounds of food additives each year? Many of these additives cause headaches, habitual muscle tension and chronic back or neck pain.
Everyday our cupboards contain more and more processed foods, which are manufactured with man-made excitotoxins and chemicals. If you suffer from Fibromyalgia or chronic pain you need to check each and every label you purchase. Excitotoxins and pain causing additives are being added to our foods everyday.
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is one of the most widely used food additives in the form of sugar. The result is a hyper-sugar made from corn, not cane sugar, which may contain eighty percent fructose. The dangers of fructose are numerous including obesity, diabetes and gout. According to Dr. Jack Samuels with the Truth in Labeling, Inc., most if not all corn syrup contains some processed free glutamic acid (MSG). In producing corn syrup the manufacturers do not take the time or expense of removing all the protein resulting in an excitotoxin.
Artificial sweeteners are added to more than 6,000 items in our grocers. These pain causing additives have been used to replace natural cane sugars. Chemicals such as aspartame, acesulfame K, maltitol, saccharin and sorbital are responsible for thousands of complaints each year to the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). These side effects include headaches, blurred vision, rapid heartbeats, difficulty breathing, intestinal discomfort and seizures. Countless animal studies have been preformed since 1970, which have resulted in tumors and thyroid problems.
If you purchase any products that are "sugar free" or states "no added sugar" please read the entire label carefully. Read the ingredients backwards from the bottom up. That is where you will find the chemical food additives. The more you read about food additives, the better choices you can make about the foods you eat. If we do not make the healthy choice, the unhealthy choice will be made for us.
