Where to Go For Fun in Miami

Miami is a smorgasbord of fun things to do. You just have to decide which areas you want to explore.

You have Coconut Grove with its hip little shops, cozy bars and appetizing restaurants. Cocowalk also has a movie theater, as well as more stores and a few restaurants. The grove is where many students from the University of Miami hang out. It is a very casual atmosphere and a great place to relax and unwind. Just be sure to lock your car on the way out. Although the Grove itself is safe some of the neighborhoods that you may pass through on the way back to US1 are not the safest.

The Grove is also a great place to go during the day, especially on weekends. There are plenty of places to go for a casual Sunday brunch and many times there are art festivals and other events going on. My favorite restaurant there is LE BOUCHON DU GROVE. It is a quaint little French restaurant with some of the classic favorites like Steak Tartare and Fresh Steamed Mussels with White Wine and French Fries.

If you are looking for a fun family beach to go to, check out Key Biscayne. The ride over the bridge is breath taking and there are plenty of places to pull over and get your feet wet, as well as a park that you can get into with beaches and picnic tables. You will often find families barbecuing here.

For more of a glamorous beach feel, go to South Beach. Here you have the trendiest clubs, amazing restaurants and these great little cafes right by the water. Try Joe's Stone Crab, if you have a chance. These are the biggest stone crab claws you have ever seen. You may need to get a reservation though because it is usually packed. The beaches themselves are clean and teaming with some of the most attractive men and women that you have ever seen. There is an invisible line though on this beach. The first half is usually couples and college kids and then once you get past a certain point you will begin to see mostly same sex couples. Some people find this unnerving at first but then they get over it. It is nice to be forewarned though so you can go with the beach mentality and take it in stride.

If you are looking for a more upscale area of Miami to dine in, give Coral Gables a try. The architecture is really lovely and the restaurants are top notch. There is also some wonderful shopping around there. Miracle Mile is known for its upscale boutiques.

You can also find some wonderful restaurants out by Brickell. There is a whole hidden neighborhood by tenth where you will find restaurants on every street, one better than the other. Usually only those who live on Brickell know about these cafes and restaurants and they keep coming back for more. Perricones is one example of a restaurant that has been there forever and yet is still usually packed on the weekends. Their food is delicious and yet the restaurant itself is fairly laid back and they have a wonderful Sunday brunch. Or you could try a new restaurant that has popped up called Abogado. It is a great little Japanese restaurant with inventive fare and the quirky habit of playing old movies on their flat screens.

There are plenty of interesting places to go for fun in Miami. Simply choose your brand of fun and a section of town to have it in.
