I've been asked this question a lot: when is the best time of year to start an e-book publishing business.

The honest answer is that just about anytime is a good time to start an e-book publishing company. Why? Because the appetite that people have for information does not recognize any season. In many ways, the e-book publishing business is what can sometimes be referred to as an evergreen business. In other words, whereas a normal tree might lose its leaves every autumn, and evergreen tree does not.

Sometimes I wonder if the reason why people ask this question is because they are nervous about starting an e-book publishing business. I can understand why people might be a little bit apprehensive. When I started my business, I was working a full-time job and had very little free time. Not to mention, I sometimes felt that the time that I was spending working on my e-book business could have been spent doing some other things that were significantly more enjoyable. Looking back now, the biggest problem that I had was doing trial and error to figure everything out.

Right now is a perfect time to start an e-book publishing company. The reason why is because more and more people are becoming familiar with e-book readers. These are devices that are portable and allow people to read digital material wherever they are -- including if you're sitting on the beach somewhere!

The really big question that you need to ask yourself is this: when will you finally start an e-book publishing business?
