When You Break Down
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

One of the worst things besides getting into an accident when you are driving in a car or other vehicle, is having the vehicle you are in suddenly break down. A break down can be classified as anything that prevents your vehicle from moving forward or being drivable. For instance, having a tire blow out on the highway would be one example of your car breaking down.

If you are a female and are by yourself at night when suddenly your engine ceases to work, stay calm. People are often reminded to stay calm in situations like this because when you we are calm, we tend to think more clearly and make wiser decisions than when our minds are erratic and upset. If you have a cell phone on you, first call someone you know who may live near by to let them know what has happened, this way there is at least one person who knows where you are.

Next, dial information or call the police to let them know that you've broken down. In this particular situation where it is nighttime and you are a lone female, it is advisable to call the police initially. A uniformed officer who works in the area will usually be dispatched to you quicker than any other person can get to you whether it be a tow truck or a friend. Additionally, police officers are familiar with the area and will have a tow truck company on standby to come out and assist you with your vehicle.

In the meantime, make sure that you turn your hazard lights on and remain in your vehicle with the doors locked. Be aware of your surroundings so that nothing takes you by surprise.
