When was Romeo and Juliet written?
Torrid romantic tale
love spoken without reservation
even in its pitiful end.

Years ago
fifteen ninety one
to fifteen ninety five
between the breaths of longing
Shakespeare
and his passionate pen
wrote a woeful
tragic
legend
and it became aroused
and alive.

True love
isn't it a quandary?
Some know it forever
and for some
it simply falls asleep.

Why do some fall in love
vow to do anything to defend it
while others
sift through their own egos
I suppose
lifting their faces to mirrors
and only to see
their own image
to revere.

What causes some
to stop loving?
Did they ever feel it at all?
It seems to get so cloudy
hearts full of passion
unable to think of anyone
but their lover
and then..
having to pretend
rehearsing
those words that slipped
so easily
from their tongue
so so easily
once...
whispered into a lovers ear,
"I love you".

So when
was Romeo and Juliet written?
When was such a romance
embedded
within Shakespeare's heart?
And when for many a romantics sake
did love leave
or is it forever
hidden?

Torrid romantic tale
woven into a thousand and one movies
plot impassioned for books
and poems,
an array of paintings,
sculptures,
symphonies and plays,
operas,
all considering a story
known by young love
forever
and thereafter.

And for those who have met
the journey of love
held that bond
despite distractions of life's
years remembered
and treasured
for their days
you do indeed
understand.
For you dear hearts
have loved.

Such a tender grieving story.
Such a lament
weeping for the dove
a tragedy of lost stars
that never ceases to shine.

Such a mystery
is love
everlasting.
When was Romeo and Juliet written?
The day you felt it
in your own heart.
