There may reach a point where your husband seems to have lost all interest in the marriage. When he wants out, you may be very disappointed as you may see no option apart from divorce. In case your relationship falls into such a rut, you should not give up, thinking that there is nothing you can do. Your marriage is worth fighting for, and fortunately, the implements of war are not lethal. There are a number of steps that you can take to save your marriage from collapse.
While it is admittedly better if your husband also takes an active part in finding a solution, this does not necessarily have to be the case. You can still take measures on your own that will influence him to change even though he wants out now.
Take a hard look at yourself
When he wants out, it is for no reason. You should therefore take your time to determine the way you have been behaving lately. While it may be painful, the fact is that most likely you have a part to play in the present state of affairs. There may have been some changes in your behavior that have gradually affected your husband negatively.
What has been has been, and you won't be able to undo the things you have done. However, you can make necessary corrections in order to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
Apologize
Once you have made necessary adjustments, you should make a sincere apology for your past mistakes. Your apology will only have meaning when you no longer repeat the things you are apologizing for. Don't promise to change; show that you have changed.
During your apology, you should let your husband know that you are willing to discuss the troubling issues with him - when he is ready. Do not try to push him into a discussion in any way.
Set more time for him
When he wants out, it may be due to changes in the family, most likely after the birth of a baby. Mothers tend to focus almost entirely on their babies at the expense of their husbands. Such a shift of balance may leave your husband feeling left out. In the process, he may gradually lose interest in the marriage until it reaches a point where he wants out.
While you should not neglect taking care of your family, you should set more time apart for just the two of you. This will help to re-establish the bond between you.
Marital problems often crop up because many couples assume that things work out automatically once they get married. However, you must be prepared to work hard at it.
