Have you ever asked a self employed person what they do and when they were done telling you, you didn't have a clue who they could serve and what benefit they bring through their work?
I sure have. And it's sad. It's one of the key reasons people don't make money in their business. And I don't want that to happen to you!
Let's get your message so clear that after someone talks to you they can't wait to work with you themselves or they know exactly who to send to you for your services.
Step 1: What are you passionate about in your business? And if you say "nothing", it's time to revamp and create a business around something you love to read, think and talk to others about...incessantly!
Dig around into your childhood for clues to your message. Sometime, before you were 10 years old, you knew exactly what your message was. Think back to the activities you enjoyed as a kid -your passion IS there.
Here's my example to get you started. I loved playing "teacher" - I'd stand at the front of my room and teach a lesson and pass out quiz papers to my imaginary students. I loved lots of quiet time- being alone with my ideas. I loved writing. And what am I doing now? What I love- teaching, spending time alone and writing AND sharing my message which is "you are here to enjoy life doing what you love while making plenty of money to live an abundant life."
It is your message that will get you up and working each day with enthusiasm. It's your message that will make sense of marketing and help you hone in on the perfect strategies to reach those who need to hear YOUR message. It's your passion that will push you past your resistance to getting your message out into the world- knowing it would be just plain wrong to keep it to yourself.
Step 2: List every benefit a person gets from working with you or reading your book or hearing you speak. Doesn't matter HOW you do things - it's what will be different for them.
Benefits can be in four areas - try to find yours in each category: financial, emotional, physical and spiritual.
Here's my example: when clients work with me to become self employed, they make more money than they thought possible, they feel excited and empowered by their work every day, they sleep well and are able to care for their bodies better than when they worked in an office, and they have peace of mind and know that their work is making a difference in the world.
Do this one thing -get clear on your message. Practice saying it aloud -I know...it feels like marbles in your mouth the first 50 times you say it...that's ok. Be clear and do YOUR work of purpose in this world.
I'd love to read your thoughts about this -leave a comment here http://authenticlifeinstitute.com/blog/ and tell us all what your message is or the challenge you are having to uncover it!
