What is Cosequin For Cats?

Cosequin for Cats is the nutritional supplement most often recommended by vets for pets with joint problems. It is a useful tool to help alleviate the signs of feline arthritis, and can also help improve bladder function. This sounds like an odd combination but in fact, the lining of the bladder is very similar in composition to cartilage, and it is this that Cosequin hopes to help.

Firstly, though there is huge anecdotal evidence of the success of a program of Cosequin for many cats, it does not solve every feline patients arthritic joints. For this reason it is advised that you only start using the product after consulting your vet. They will know whether your cat's symptoms are likely to respond favorably to its use. Once you have the okay from them, it is cheapest to buy Cosequin online, but don't waste your money by using on a pet who's condition is unlikely to be improved.

There are two key components of this supplement. The first is Glucosamine which is one of the building blocks of cartilage. As degradation of cartilage within joints is the key problem associated with feline arthritis, it makes sense to put back some of this important material. By supplying the wherewith-all for the body to increase cartilage production many pet owners notice significant improvement in mobility.

The second key ingredient is Chondroitin. This works to block the enzymes that are signalling for the cartilage to break down in the first place. It is thought that both chondroitin and glucosamine work together to help joints improve their condition and to slow down further decay.

With many older cats suffering stiffness and lameness due to the onset of arthritis, more and more pet owners are turning to Cosequin for Cats. Though it is always difficult to judge the effectiveness of such products on our pets, there is good news. The makers of Cosequin also produce a very similar product for human use. This leads the way in arthritis management with good reports of improved mobility and retardation of the onset of the disease. Knowing that people can give such positive feedback is reassuring when we use such a product on our silent cats.
