When you start your own business, you will find that in the early days it will take up a huge amount of your time and effort and more than a little cash! Just remember to persevere because when you get it right and it all comes together you will probably forget the hard slog that you had to endure to get there. It will definitely be worth it in the long run. Always focus on the future and why you are doing this and as I have said so many times: NEVER GIVE UP! Before you go to sleep at night use positive affirmation; I WILL be successful, I am a good businessman etc. It has been suggested that the last thing you remember before you go to sleep is subconsciously stored in your mind so focus on positive things before you nod off and do this for at least 3 nights. I used to focus on negative aspects of my life but thought I would try this - I am a scientist so quite a hardened sceptic! I told myself I would be a more positive person, that I was happy and that I WOULD be successful and I can tell you this; it does work.
When you start in the world of information publishing and internet marketing there is a huge and steep learning curve. You don't see any results financially and when you do it is small. All I can say is don't despair! One day you will find that all the groundwork you have put in will reap dividends and suddenly your income explodes.
Remember that every successful person has been through the same process and felt exactly the same. You spend all your spare time devouring books and articles, then writing and promoting products. You spend money trying to learn how to make money, but don't look at it as wasting money (it isn't); look at it as an investment (in yourself).
You will berate yourself for ever starting this damned internet business pipe dream, but you WILL make it work. Soon you will find that you will break even so the financial burden has gone. Then you actually start to make a little profit which you may want to reinvest. This starts to pay off and you make more profit, enough to pay for some little treats such as a holiday - you deserve a break!
All of a sudden you realise that you have learned enough to start applying that knowledge to broaden your horizons and devise more ways to earn money. Perhaps, more importantly, you realise that you know enough to perhaps teach others. Your business seems to take on a life of its own, growing almost daily. Soon you are earning enough to quit your 9-5 job and work at home full-time. This is followed by financial independence, so has the journey been worth it?
Many people dream of working for themselves but that is all it is; a dream. It is a lot of work in the beginning and the majority of people who do take action give up before they have really started. I believe, in some regards, that the internet is at least partly to blame for this as far too many people lack patience and want instant gratification.
If you do want to fulfil your dream of working at home you will have to keep learning, work very hard (in the beginning - it does get easier!), develop your mindset, acquire new skills, ask questions and finally (and most importantly) apply what you have learnt.
Find and copy a mentor, somebody that has already done what you wish to do but put your personal stamp on it. Visit forums pertinent to your particular niche to learn more. Do something EVERY day that is pushing your business forward, however small - these are all steps in the right direction.
Follow this process and your business will develop and you will reap the rewards. The road is hard for the first year or two but is that such a long time to completely change your life?
There are NO bona fide get rich quick schemes. Working for yourself is difficult and takes discipline and you cannot afford to be lazy or complacent but it is so much better than the alternative. I wish you every success in your venture...
