Today I wanted to talk about body transformation because I get this question often: What is the difference between body transformation and muscle building?
Body transformation, is about making lifestyle changes to transform your body by losing weight - it's not only about bodybuilding - though it can be if you choose to.
The way I explain it is simple: Eat less, watch less TV (or do less of whatever keeps you on your butt, lose excess fat, you're done...your body starts changing. Immediately. Nothing new here; no big secrets. Your body will get reshaped...
OK - we know it's not that easy...I have been writing about the many different factors contributing to weight gain (but that's another story).
Today it's all about the basics, the simple logic behind those scientific factors.
Fact is: You're eating more than your body needs to function and you're moving less. It's all about immediate gratification and feeling good. (Almost as bad as substance abuse and addictions.) Time To Challenge Your Body, One Pound At A Time...
Start by doing this:
Imagine just one pound of fat; now picture yourself carrying 1 Lb of lard on your hands - how gross is that? Imagine what that part of your body would look like when that one-pound is gone...now imagine 10, 20, or 30 pounds of your entire body? How would that feel?
Next: Start-moving...Think about all those activities and fun outdoor games you used to enjoy as a kid. Was it swimming, rope skipping, skating? How about hitting the good old gym and start doing exactly that all over again-except for the skating, which you could do at the park for free-
Will it be easy, hard, painful? It depends on your expectations...yeah it will hurt at first until your body adjusts, and it will be as hard or as easy as you make it. Have you tried learning a new game? I bet you had to learn the rules until you finally got the hang of it.
Same concept. Except now you're re-learning, and guess what? your muscles have a "memory" too, so all you will be doing is refreshing it.
If you're like a lot of us, you probably avoid even driving near the gym, if this is you, remember the following:
Just a couple of weeks of training (and eating properly) will get you:
- A great feeling of well being and inner happiness
- Increased feelings of accomplishment and confidence
- A renewed or increased sense of strength and energy (you know, when you feel like you're ready to conquer the world, except it happens every time you workout and it lasts all day)
Those are only some of the obvious benefits of working out; then come the unexpected physical benefits, like when you suddenly find yourself feeling stronger and not catching colds even though your girlfriend does, and the even more obvious, like seeing all those jeans you no longer need because they're too big...
Yeah...those benefits ;)
