What Space Wolves Armies Need to Fight Mechanized Armies

The Space Wolves can put up a fight against any army in Warhammer 40,000. When facing mechanized armies, you will need certain things in your army. Your going to want to have as many melta guns as possible. These weapons take out vehicle armor with ease, if you can get close enough. Long fangs also can take out enemy tanks and vehicles well. In addition, drop pods will allow you to get to where you need to go very quickly.

The first thing that the Space Wolves need to fight mechanized armies is, melta guns. These are short range microwave guns that cant go through armor like butter. The only problem is making sure you are close enough to use them. They only have a twelve inch range. If your opponent is going to have lots of vehicles you'll want as many melta guns as you possibly can. This means in every squad if possible. If your opponent is going vehicle heavy they probably won't have as much infantry anyway.

The next thing that the Space Wolves need to fight against mechanized armies is, Long Fangs. The heavy weapons troops of the wolves can be very deadly. Just make sure you arm them the right way. Laser cannons have the potential to destroy any vehicle in the game. They are expensive but can be worth it if you hit the target. Missile launchers aren't too bad of a choice for lighter armored targets. Multi meltas are good but lack range. I usually army my Long Fangs with mostly missile launchers and the occasional laser cannon. Your fangs can deal with any vehicles the enemy can throw at you.

Lastly, a final thing that Space Wolves need to fight mechanized armies is, drop pods. These troop carriers fall from the sky and can land pretty much any place you want. Keep in mind when you leave these vehicles, your troops will be on foot for the rest of the game. Still, they allow you to start a turn shooting and be right next to enemy vehicles. Be careful to position your troops so they get a little cover on your opponents turn. They won't take kindly to having troops with melta guns nine inches away and will probably shoot everything they have at you.

In closing, in order to be successful against mechanized armies, the Space Wolves need to have certain things in their army. You need a good amount of melta guns so your infantry can destroy vehicles also. Taking a squad of Long Fangs or two will always serve you well, as these troops can destroy tanks at will with their heavy weapons. Drop pods are always another option to get close to your opponents tanks without being exposed to lots of enemy fire. All of these things will allow the Space Wolves to do well against armies with lots of vehicles.
