One of the best pieces of advice that I could give any Christian who confronts an atheist is to be non-confrontational. There's no need to be combative because these people aren't the enemy.

One of the worst mistakes that most Christians and atheists make is the assumption that the opposition is the enemy, when these are the people that you should be gathering information from. These are the people that you need to ask the tough questions to and if you don't have the answers, find them.

If an atheist asks a Christian some questions like, "Where did God come from? Or did Jesus really perform all of the miracles that were stated in the Holy Bible? You should avoid giving responses like yes and no without any explanations that make sense.

If you're really not interested in learning about Christianity or why atheists chooses to follow a different path than your own, feel free to be confrontational and abusive. You will be following the path of your ancestors and will lose valuable opportunities to gather useful information.

It would be safe to make an assumption that an open-minded Christian could learn more from an atheist in a few hours, especially if they're paying attention, than they could from any Christian. Atheists can provide Christians with facts and theories that they might not have ever been exposed to.

The next time that an atheists ask you a tough question and you don't know the answer, tell the atheists or nonbeliever that you will have to get back with them. I didn't have the opportunity to talk to atheists when I was younger, but I have learned a lot from them as I got older.

Don't be ashamed that you can't answer a question, find the answer for yourself and often these answers will lead to more questions about Christianity and if an atheists was responsible for your education, how could you possibly view them as the enemy, ever again.
