There is some contested territory as far as what should be built when trying to use a Thor rush. The best Thor rush build order is one that gets you double refineries quickly so you have plenty of vespene gas, plus two factories with upgraded tech labs and an armory in a very short amount of time. It can be very tricky to pull this off cleanly, and not protecting yourself while doing it can be very costly. Here is my personal favorite and best Thor Rush build order:
8 First Refinery
9 Supply Depot at choke point
10 Second Refinery and first refinery should be maxed with SCV's
11 Barracks(Use this to build tech labs for your factories so you can build Thors quickly)
13 Factory
14 2nd Factory
16 Armory(Upgrade Thor armor and weapons here)
This Thor rush build order works very well because it gets you units and gas quickly so you can start pumping out a few quick and early Thors to surprise an otherwise well defended opponent. This means you can take his base over and forcefully move in to destroy his mineral flow.
The one weakness with a Thor rush is that it forces you to rush with a relatively slow unit. Thors are not one of the fastest units in StarCraft 2 and as a result, you are likely to see a lot of things happening before your Thors arrive on the scene. Don't allow things to get carried away. Keep a few units up to defend and make sure you do not allow too much exposure.
Lastly, make sure you treat your Thors as super high priority targets. Keep an SCV on each one and heal them regularly with plenty of support on the air and ground to keep units occupied and keep the rush stable. This will keep your Thor alive with good tactics and the best Thor rush build order available!
