Every organisation has a responsibility of making the workplace safe for its employees. This is done by providing safe working system, high quality equipment and machinery and competent workers. If you ever are injured at your workplace because of someone's fault, you are entitled for compensation.

First of all you need to determine what your damages are and how much of it can be recovered. In order to get compensation, you will also need to prove that the accident happened because of either a faulty workplace design, inappropriate conduct of a fellow employee or negligence of another company at your workplace. You will need to recover your loss of earnings, medical bills, and bills for any changes required at your home because of your injury or disability.

A number of work related injured are covered in this compensation. Defective work equipment is the key cause of such work related accidents. This includes all the machinery, tools, installations etc. All these must be of adequate quality and must be maintained in a timely manner as they can cause harm to the workers otherwise. Hence, if you have been injured while handling such faulty equipment, you will be entitled for a compensation claim.

The management must ensure that the materials or stock items are stored properly. If a worker is injured because of a falling object, he can claim for compensation related to bills and disability, not to forget, the pain and suffering caused. Similar is the case for workers who are not given proper training regarding their jobs. Every worker must know everything about his job, the machinery he has to operate and use of protective material.

Workers must also be provided with adequate protective equipment. Any injury that results because of absence of a protective gear is in for compensation, because it is the employer's job to provide and train the employee with the protective equipment.

Any scars, burns or laceration that remains after an accident or an injury at workplace can cause an emotional and psychological distress to the worker and his family. Therefore, the employers will have to provide compensation either for the distress caused or for appropriate treatment for removal of these scars.

Usually workers, who are at construction sites, work at heights. This is considerably dangerous as they can fall while handling materials, or from edges or scaffolding. Workers who are injured because of falling from heights are in for a compensation claim. Any injury to the head, brain, neck, spinal cord, soft tissues etc caused by inadequate equipment, lack of training, working at heights etc and its resulting medical problems must be claimed against the employer.

Some workers might go through psychological problems after a work related accident. This impairs their working power and they often suffer from depression and stress. They have a right to claim for compensation in this regard so that they can get the right medical treatment.
