There are times when something makes a person stop and think about how something works and when the question is how does a Satellite TV dish bring the programs into the house and to the television set the answer while somewhat complicated is also interesting.
First of all there is the satellites that have been placed as far as approximately 22,000 miles above the earth, these satellites are stationary or also known in more technical terms as geostncronus orbit.
When using satellites for television it is what would be called a wireless system and these positioned satellites transmit radio signals that then deliver their signal to the satellite dish positioned on a home.
The reason that the dish on a home must be set with a compass and position correctly in order to send television channels and programs to a television set is that the radio signals that are sent from the satellite so high above the earth to an orbiting satellite, which then transmits it to the house satellite dish. This satellite can only travel in a straight line to the satellite dish positioned on the roof of a home.
Once all of these signals are sent and the dish on the roof of a home receives the radio signal it then travels along the coaxial cable that is attached to the satellite dish and then it travels down this cable and into the satellite receiver box.
When all of this has occurred and the radio signal reaches the receiver box it is then deciphered
by the receiver box and transmitted to the television where satellite television customers then watch it as it appears. Once this signal is converted into favorite television shows it has traveled all this way to bring what began as a radio signal to a favorite program or movie.
This seems like a lot of work but with the amount of satellites being used and added to there are more satellite customers because of the many channels offered. This number of channels is added to at a fast pace and will continue to do so for some time to come.
Directv has just recently sent one new satellite up that has added many new HD programs and is planning sending another satellite into space in a short amount of time that will also add more of these channels for home viewers who subscribe to Satellite TV.
