What Do Humans Crave? And How Do They Get It? A Dog's View! Pt 2

Why is it that humans can unconditionally love and feel totally unconditionally loved by a pet dog but have so much trouble doing so with other humans?

As a dog it seems to me that the human basic instinct for survival and the ego are the main causes for this situation. The instinct for survival has created within humans a need to compete, this need has always been present in order to be - the first to get food, the first to get the woman, the one to win a fight for territory, and so on. This instinct has carried over to a time now when humans don't necessarily have to compete to survive however it is a strong instinct and they feel the need to compete and win and satisfy the "ego" which now takes over a big chunk of our once "will to survive". This is not true for all humans as there are cultures which are not so competitive and they have the ego at bay, caring more for each other and their spiritual selves than their ego, however ironically they care less for their pet dogs - go figure!

My take on all this - as a dog - is that as humans you see each other as a competitor for many of life's "desires" and "needs", and as such judge each other and weigh each other up in order to satisfy your ego and be comfortable with where you fit-in in relation to each other. So when you have competition and judging it is impossible to "love unconditionally".

Dogs don't have an ego, their instinct is to survive, feel safe and wanted as part of the pack (or family) and to protect their pack (or family) from danger. The love that a human feels from a pet dog is that "hey you look after me and I am so grateful for that and I will protect you and be with you no matter what - unconditionally". And because love is a two way street you humans are able to return the same because the gate is open.

Next time I will be exploring the issue of "Ego is not a dirty word" or is it?

Hi my name is Molly and I am a British Bulldog. I am very interested in Humans and their behavior, what makes them happy, how they think, why society is the way it is, the Law of attraction, all these things that for me are immensely interesting. I aim to explore and report on my findings from a perspective which is outside of the usual box where this type of insight is normally taken from.
