What Consequence Will Global Warming Have on Weather Patterns?

When people think of global warming, many fail to take into account what global weather changes we may be faced with as a direct result of increasing temperatures. To many, global warming simply means the earth will warm providing increased temperatures in places that are already almost impossible to live in. The truth is that global warming could impact global weather conditions and have a consequence for many countries across the globe.

The most notable consequence global warming could have on weather conditions is an overall increase in temperature. This would make already inhospitable places even harder to survive in such as deserts or equatorial countries. Increasing temperatures will not only affect deserts and equatorial regions but could have a significant impact on the health of population centres right across the globe due to an increase in heat stroke and other heat related illnesses or deaths. In addition to this, there could be a global food shortage as a result of failing crops.

A consequence of global warming gaining wider exposure in recent years is an increase of severe weather conditions caused by increasing temperatures. As the sun directly influences the intensity of storms, hurricanes and cyclones, we are likely to see an increase in the intensity of such events leading to increased loss of life and economic impact. Strong winds, heavy rain and flooding are likely to become more widespread as the earth warms and scientists continue to research how the melting of glaciers and sea ice will affect this trend.

Another consequence of global warming is a more intense drought in some parts of the world. This is linked to rising temperatures which will evaporate water more quickly leaving many communities vulnerable.

In recent years we have seen how severe weather conditions can lead to a shortage of not only food but other goods too. A prime example of this was in 2011 when Thailand was exposed to severe flooding which led to a global shortage of hard drives. This may not sound like a problem to the majority of people but it has had a significant impact on large companies across the globe with profit warnings as a direct result of the shortage. This shortage has also had an impact on companies across the globe due to increasing hard drive prices.

Although there is some debate as to whether or not man has created global warming, there is evidence that the earth's temperatures continue to rise and we should do more to curb the potential effects or consequences global warming may have on society.
