Before finding one of the best home based internet business opportunities, I had spent months searching the internet. It was hard enough finding one, let alone a few to investigate. Most of them were a lot of hype about nothing, and fit one of three main 'ideas'.
Firstly is what I call the 'Help Me Shoot Myself In The Foot, Promise Me Everything and Blindfold Me Plan.' This idea is usually presented by a slick marketing guy who promises me that if I buy his system he'll make me $34,563 in my first month, he'll do all the work for me and all I have to do is give him $20,000 up front and watch the cash come piling in.
These ideas come by the bucket online and they are run by someone who has never made a Dollar on the internet.
Basically these people want your money, they make guarantees about the thousands you'll be making without proof and they expect you to have blind faith that they will deliver your money.
Next is what I call the 'Long Sales Letter, Appeal To My Greedy Luxury Lifestyle, Letterbox Plan.' We've all seen these so called home based internet business opportunities. The first sign is a really long sales letter that tells you about how one day they stumbled on this great idea or this great system and now they are making money hand over fist. Next they have pictures of flash cars, expensive homes and tell stories of their latest holidays in the Caribbean or some other exotic location.
Then they'll tell me how I can do the same thing too for just a small investment of $1,997. And within a month or six weeks I'll be waking up to see piles of checks come through my letterbox, and I'll be able to spend my time on beaches driving my fat cars living the good life. But again a huge upfront fee is needed.
And finally there are a number of other so called opportunities that range from drop shipping to mystery shopping and gambling systems. But none of those work!
Eventually after a lot of searching for home based internet business opportunities, I found out about affiliate marketing.
At first I thought it sounded a bit odd that I could advertise someone else's products and get paid for it. I had no idea where to start. I didn't even know how I could contact people to market their products for them or how I would get paid.
When I looked into it further I found a company called ClickBank. They have a huge list of products you can market and they take care of the payments so all you have to do is market the products.
I'm not going to lie, it takes work. But it is by far one of the best home based internet business opportunities I have come across. Because once you set up your first website (very easy to do with free software now a-days) and get traffic (people looking for the information / products you want to sell) to your site you can advertise products to them through emails or on your website.
And you'll get a commission from every sale, sometimes up to 75%. The great thing about affiliate marketing is that once you have your first website up and running and producing a profit. You can take the same system and do it all over again for another product.
The process of affiliate marketing goes like this:
1. Find a problem that people have
2. Find a product that solves that problem
3. Become an affiliate for that product
4. Build a website (easy to do now with free software)
5. Get a lot of relevant traffic to your website (people who want what you have)
6. Give your visitors free & relevant stuff, ebooks etc. in exchange for their email address
7. Advertise to them through emails
A lot of affiliate newbies get lost in this process or miss out a step or two. I think that this is the best of all the home based internet business opportunities because the process is simple and easy to follow, it's cheap and once you've mastered it you can do it over and over again.
