Email marketing campaigns have so many benefits for your small business I don't see why anyone wouldn't implement them into their marketing plan. Before I get into the specifics, let's think about what it takes to get a prospective customer to become a buying customer. First, you have to build their intrigue. They have to have some sort of interest in your product or service. Next, you have to show them why they should trust you enough to give you their hard earned money. Lastly, you have to give them the opportunity to buy. Email marketing campaigns cover all of these areas...let me show you.
Once your prospect finds your website, you are offering them something of value in exchange for their email. It should be something that is related to your business of course and something that can help build their interest in what else you have to offer quickly. There you have a good start to intriguing them.
When you have their email, you are pretty set from now on as long as you build trust and don't lose it. The best way to build trust is to offer guidance and advice throughout the emails. Don't over promote your services but have it as a "soft sell" in each one. If they are interested enough, they will buy. If they don't buy, you can always email them again later on.
That's the next benefit I wanted to bring to your attention. Not all buyers are ready to buy the first time you present them your product or service. Some of them want you to warm them up a little and some just can't afford or need the service/product right now. You have them on your email list though. You are able to constantly remind them of your business and what you can do for them. When they need your help, they will come.
And now for the best part of effective email marketing campaigns....you can sell more then once to a customer. Too many business owners focus on generating new customers. If you didn't know already, new customers are the most expensive customers to find. Repeat customers have already put their trust in you and purchased your product. They are going to be the easiest to sell to again and again. Throw out a special promotion for your previous buyers or offer them some free inspection to show them where you can further help them.
One of my favorite aspects of email marketing campaigns is that there are tools available to completely automate the whole process. You can take a week to create your email campaign then never touch it again, but I don't recommend it so much in that sense. This brings me to the next benefit. It's easily tracked and improved. You will always be able to track your results with each email you send. Each promotion will prove it's effectiveness quickly. You can tweak and improve different aspects to get the results you are looking for.
If these benefits shown of email marketing campaigns aren't proving to you that you need this marketing method in your business, then you're a lost cause. Okay, you aren't lost yet. You can check out companies like Aweber, Constant Contact, GetResponse, etc for your automated software. It's pretty cheap and worth the effort. I use Aweber myself. Follow the directions provided and it's simple to get started.
