You purchase the product with the resale rights and then simply resell the product as it is. You can alter how you sell it. i.e sales text and the web page if you choose to sell it that way. But the actual product and its contents can NOT be altered.
Most resell right products will come with some terms and conditions. Usually in these terms you'll be informed that you can't edit the product and often given a maximum and minimum price to charge and also might not let you sell on sites like eBay but usually that's about it so there never too restrictive. Just make sure you read the terms before you start selling.
