What Accessories Should You Get to Go With the Nintendo Wii?
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

As for extra addons for the Nintendo Wii, I recommend more than 1 remote. Aside from adding a few extra controllers, there really is no need for other accessories. There are so many Wii accessories available today it can be a bit confusing. For almost all of the Wii games out there, a Wiimote and a Nunchuk will do the trick. If you are thinking of getting more remotes, the Wii play game would be a good option, because this game comes with a free remote. Now there's good value for your buck!

Just how many controllers are available for the Wii console system? There are really only 4 Wii Controllers: the Wiimote, the Nunchuk, the Classic Controller, and the Wii Fit Balance Board. Any other "controller" you see are called shells ... hollow pieces of plastic used to change the look of the controller or provide a different style of grip to the real controllers which latch into them. Shells are like the Wii tennis racket, Wii wheel and the Wii zapper for example.

At the bare minimum you'll need at least one Wiimote and one Nunchuk. The Wii already has one of each at the time of purchasing a new Wii system. In order to have the max number of players though, you will need to buy up to three more of each.

When you have multiple Wii controllers around, you need to differentiate who's is who's ... that's easy to do with skins ... plus designed to protect the Wii remotes from wear and tear. I like them mainly so I know which remote is mine though.

Wiimote / remote controllers use AA batteries...I would STRONGLY recommend either using rechargeable batteries, or better yet (what I use) a charging station. The Wii charger provides a dock for your Wiimote; you won't have to constantly replace the batteries. Since the charging station is an affordable Nintendo Wii accessory it pays for itself in a short period of time.
