Weight Gain Complications Everyone Should Know

Many people across the country look at people who are overweight with disdain because of what they perceive to be an unhealthy lifestyle or people who eat to excess.. However, the issues and concerns of people who are overweight far outreach the superficial external appearance factor brought on by society. People who suffer from obesity and that are out of shape should know the medical implications associated with weight gain complications.

The first thing that will be affected in the body when weight gain is generated and not dealt immediately with is joint pain. A person's knees, ankles, and feet are overstressed by too much body weight pressing down on them and they tend to get sore and tired much more quickly. This also plays into an overweight person not exercising because it causes physical pain to move around, especially when doing cardio exercises.

Along with not being able to exercise properly are the lowered energy levels that obese individuals feel on a daily basis. This seems kind of shocking, because fat cells are merely stored caloric energy. However, remember that moving around when a person is overweight takes more energy than someone who is fit. For this reason, people who suffer from a weight problem get tired much more quickly and are not able to exert themselves physically as people who are in shape.

There are also other major internal medical problems that can arise from prolonged periods of being obese or overweight. Storing too much fat in the body will cause a person's heart to be overworked, which leads to hypertension and high blood pressure. Prolonged exposure to these two factors is a major contributing factor in developing heart disease and having heart attacks.

Another side effect from being drastically overweight that most people associate with this condition is developing type II diabetes. While there are several other factors that come into play before a person actually generates this condition, but being overweight definitely helps. Diabetes can lead to insulin shots and pumps, shakiness, comas, loss of limbs, and even death.

Weight gain complications far outreach the enjoyment people get by eating tasty fattening foods. Before going to a fast food restaurant or eating that extra piece of cake, think to yourself about all the problems that come with unacceptable weight gain. People exercising self control is the best contributing factor in keeping weight at a health level. Choosing to live a healthier lifestyle can also promote better self image and self esteem, which makes everyone's day around an individual more enjoyable.
