Experiments have shown that we respond to peer pressure. When a room full of people claim something that is obviously false, test subjects agreed with the rest. At first, they would look surprised, then puzzled, then uncomfortable, but in the end, they conformed to peer pressure.
When electrodes were attached to the heads of the subjects scientists found that the subjects were not just saying they believed the majority opinion, they actually began to believe.
We are heavily influenced by the opinions of our peers. This can work against us in many ways. If you want to live a different life to that of your friends and family, you may find it difficult to break free of their version of reality. You may find opposition to change from your closest friends and from yourself.
If you choose to change your reality and to strive for a better life, you need to have a very clear vision of how that life is to be. You need to copy people who are where you wish to be. They have already done what you wish to achieve so they have a clear vision.
Use your inbuilt need to copy people by copying those who are successful, whatever your version of successful happens to be. Work with your natural talents and abilities to achieve change.
Remember that people do not like change. You will have to overcome your natural aversion to change and you will meet opposition from those around you. They will not like you changing. It is threatening to have to confront change so they will feel threatened by you. Stick to your guns and keep working for your success. Maybe one day your friends will be inspired to change by your success.
